Paramount Lança Última Cópia em 35mm Paramount Has Released Their Last Print in 35mm

Paramount Pictures became the first major Hollywood studio to stop delivering movies on 35-millimeter film in the United States, offering them only in digital format. The change of course reflects a shift toward use of digital projection. Only about 8 percent of about 40,045 United States theaters screens are equipped to show movies only in a film format, according to the National Association of Theater Owners. The last Paramount picture delivered to some theater owners in a film format was Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues. Many of the remaining film-only screens are in small towns, where owners have been hard pressed to afford a conversion. Curiously in Brazil there are still many remaining theaters screening productions on film format, even though in recent years there´s been a boom on productions captured on digital. Not to mention that It´s Almost True has been entirely filmed using the Canon 5D camera.

Stay tuned for more news on our little pet film right here in this noble blog space.

Episódio de "Os Chorões" Fala Sobre Cinema Belas Artes "The Criers" Episode Talks About Belas Artes Movie Theater

In 2012, Sincronia Filmes released on their YouTube channel The Criers, a webseries that talked about people´s problems and their everyday lives as a whole. One of the episodes, BTW directed by Emanuel Mendes, the helmer behind It´s Almost True, was about the (then) recent closing of the Belas Artes Movie Theater, the traditional  São Paulo shelter of cinephiles and artists as a whole. As an "appetizer" for the release of the film this year - and the advertising campaign designed by Babaorum Publicidade, the Sincronia Ad Agency -, we´ve decided to post the episode for your pleasure and enjoyment. Sorry people, there´s no English subtitles :(

Cine Belas Artes Pode Reabrir em 2014 Belas Artes Movie Theater Can Reopen in 2014

Fiquem ligados.

2014 seems to have started with some good news - at least in the film and culture world. There´s rumour around stating that Belas Artes Movie Theater, the famous shelter for cinephiles and one of the main cultural spaces in the city of São Paulo, can reopen its doors. According to sources, it all depends of an agreement between the City Hall and a possible future sponsor that injects money in the building in order to give back one of São Paulo´s icons to the place it belongs - the famous corner of Paulista Avenue and Consolação street.

Thanks to Antonio Rodrigues Jr. - an ilustrator, graphic designer and a lettering lover, and who has given us the template for the first teaser poster for It´s Almost True - we can have a slightly clear idea of what the folks at Babaorum Publicidade, the advertising agency inside Sincronia Filmes, have been up to these past few days regarding the release of the film. Our sources tell us about a probable premiere in São Paulo at MIS (Museu da Imagem e do Som/Sound and Image Museum) in May next year. And the film will also start running film festivals all over the place right in the beginning of 2014. All hail the New Year!

R.I.P. Madiga

R.I.P., Madiga. Você foi um exemplo para todos nós.

He was in jail for 27 years only because he wanted to make justice and promote human rights in his country. But he was freed from prison, became a president, lived almost a century, and proved that, yes, it is possible to change the rules of the game and show it to the world. R.I.P., Madiga. You´ve been an example to all of us.

Eduardo Coutinho Encara Câmera de Um Documentário Eduardo Coutinho Faces Camera for a Documentary

Fiquem conosco!

Eduardo Coutinho, one of the most important documentarians of all time, has received a documentary all his own. For the first time, the director of such famous works as Cabra Marcado para Morrer, Edifício Babilônia, Jogo de Cena, among others, is in front of cameras, interviewed for a film - made by filmmaker Carlos Nader - where he tells about his workmethod, how he enjoys to interview anonymous faces, and, for this particular project, director Nader has used Coutinho´s own film crew, from the electric department to the his editor. Though famous for being a little grumpy, Nader said that Coutinho is a delighted, sweet and humane figure.
